President's Message - February 2026
Hello. We enter 2026 in a positive position with respect to finances, membership numbers and participation levels at the Branch. These achievements are thanks to our Members for their support and the commitment of Branch executive and volunteers to serving our Branch.
At the January General Meeting the 2026 Branch budget ($1.602 million) and a suite of priorities for the new year were approved. The main priorities for Building & Grounds are:
- Sanding and refinishing the Lounge dance floor.
- Upgrading the Lounge (windows, flooring & curtains). Branch has a New Horizons grant application submitted on this work. However, the Budget includes the option to fund these upgrades should we not get the NH grant. Upgrade will also include the sound system.
- Upgrading the kitchen by replacing the stove and fixing one fryer.
- Improving the lighting in the Games Room, stairway and upstairs.
- Grounds work will include power-washing our stonework, replacing broken curbing, and creating a Wall of Remembrance.
- Pruning and tending the gardens and hedges.
Moving forward this year we encourage members to share their skills in meeting Branch needs. Members with electric, carpentry, painting, plumbing, on-line Quick Books and decorating skills willing to share that knowledge, please contact your President.
